LEAN ON ME’ ACTOR ARRESTED
for Buying 200 POUNDS of Weed
The guy who starred as troubled youth Thomas Sams in the 1989 classic “Lean On Me” was arrested in Arizona for allegedly buying 200 pounds of pot from an undercover cop this week.
Jermaine “Huggy” Hopkins has been charged with two felony counts of possessing, transporting and trying to sell marijuana.
According to police, the 38-year-old actor lives in North Carolina … but traveled to AZ to make the drug deal on Tuesday.
Cops in Maricopa County say they set up the sting operation … and after Hopkins took possession of the dope, they pulled over his SUV and arrested him. Cops say they found $100k in cash in the ride.
Officials later searched Hopkins’ Arizona apartment and claim they found an additional 100 pounds of weed.
Police say Hopkins told them he got involved in the drug deal to provide a nice Christmas for his family.
Hopkins is being held on $35,000 bond. If convicted, he faces up to 5 years in prison.
Atlanta, GA – December 8, 2011 – In response to the senseless and violent end to the life of 7 year old Jorelys Rivera of Canton, Georgia, several local Atlanta entertainment companies have joined forces to organize a toy drive and Memorial Fund Benefit Concert. Flyer Promo Now Magazine, Stars of Tomorrow Youth Foundation, K-Rock Ent., J Square Ent., Weirdo Gang Ent. and the Stop the Violence Start the Music movement announced plans today to hold a live music concert and toy drive benefiting the family of Jorelys Rivera.
The Jorelys Rivera Memorial Fund Benefit Concert will be held in conjunction with the City of Canton on Sunday December 18, 2011 at Canton’s Heritage Park, 250 Riverstone Pkwy Canton, GA 30114. The live show will begin at 4:00 p.m. 100% of the proceeds will go to benefit the Riviera family. Collected toys will be distributed amongst needy families within the local Canton community. “The children are afraid, we need to help them to heal from this horrible incident”, said Jacques Johnson, a local teen artist of Canton, GA.
“What happened to Jorelys is a sad reminder of the presence of predators that endanger our children,” said Katrina Moore mother and founder of K-Rock Entertainment Group. “Great events like this benefit concert, will hopefully kick start a collective healing in our community and spur on change to be more protective of our neighborhoods, something that we as a community really need.” As Sabrina Flemister, CEO of Weirdo Gang Entertainment noted: “Something as simple as being more observant of our surroundings and actually getting to know our neighbors could make a huge difference. Let those monsters know, the entire community is watching.”
“Many of us grieve with the Rivera Family. We too have children Jorelys age. I felt it was my responsibility to take some action,” said Doc Holiday, CEO of Flyer Promo Now Magazine. “This great idea came together because Jacques Johnson reached out to us. He along with our other friends in the Atlanta music scene wanted to turn this negative incident into something positive for the entire community.”
In partnership with the City of Canton, the Jorelys Rivera Memorial Fund Benefit Concert and Toy Drive will remember Jorelys with a day of music, healing and donations that will draw attention to the thousands of children still missing in our country. It is the hope of the concert’s organizers that the eyes of the public are opened to the remaining prevalence of child abduction, and just how few resources our cities have to help treat this social epidemic.
On Sunday, Dec 18 as major & local artists such as Charlie Boy Gang, Rich Kidz, J Square, Yungsta Da Wiz and others take to the stage, hundreds from Georgia will join in a single voice to plead for justice for Jorelys and for healing of our families and especially our children, who should be free to live a life without fear.

Salute to Kaspa The Don and everybody that supports ” Toyz in the Hood”.
The BET Hip Hop Awards weekend held in Atlanta was the “go to” spot for anyone who has anything to do with hip hop music. But the POWERBALL Mansion hosted the most exclusive private party that Friday evening. Hidden amongst the oaks on Cascade Road lie the huge POWERBALL estate donned with the spotlights of Beats by Dr. Dre and Hittmen DJs logos redecorating the face of the home.
Attendees of the event were ushered in VIP Escalades, Yukons and limousine busses, and were greeted by the Hittmen Honeys, ATLs finest modeling squad. Upon entering the home, guess were treated to a red carpet, full paparazzi session and guided downstairs to the spanning basement, stage area, and of course a full open bar. The event was filled with beautiful ladies and a host of well-known and independent artists all on their grind. Paintings of hip hop greats from the past and the present like Biggie and Nicki Minaj adorned the walls to remind everyone what the night’s purpose was; not to forget the ode to Diddy painting in back of the Ciroc fountain, of course.
The star-studded guest list included performances by 2 Chainz, Lil’ Scrappy, and Yo Gotti who rocked the stage and partied in the crowd with everyone. DJ Greg Street of Atlanta’s V103, DJ Scream and Bigga Rankin spun the hottest tracks as well as rocked the tracks of all of the indie artists in attendance.
Our own Freshy Mane Freshy performed his hit single with FNF’s Jus Joose “Hold Up Trap”, and the crowd went wild! Kaspa The Don, president of the Hittmen DJs, rushed to the stage to introduce Freshy to the people. Kaspa cosigned Freshy’s mixtape, Aint Wit’ the Cupcakin, and bragged on the contract Freshy holds with himself and Greg Street. The GotBeatz Music Group family is very proud of Freshy’s accomplishments and performance that night. The atmosphere was first class, and everyone who attended had a great time!
