‘Someone Tried to Kill Me’-Young Rapper thankful for life and new album

‘Someone Tried to Kill Me’-Young Rapper thankful for life and new album

By: Laney

Nearly six months after a devastating ordeal that almost took his life, Rapper Young Spacemann (known as Space) is ready to drop his new album, I Am So Super.

“When I think about how a few months ago I couldn’t write or record or do any of these things, now I have an album coming out? I mean that’s amazing,” said Space.

The North Carolina rapper’s ordeal began on May 20, of this year. The up and coming artist was on his way to hang out with friends and co-workers at the Applebee’s he worked at when he had a heated argument with his friend. After arriving at the eatery, he ordered a drink to take the edge off and that’s the last thing he remembers about that night.

“I guess people were buying me shots and drinks,” said Space. “I didn’t buy one drink and I have never blacked out before, but that night I just don’t know what happened.”

According to witnesses, Space began crying and acting strange. He started running around the popular eatery and then walked across the street to a Steak and Shake restaurant, where people say he was yelling, crying and acting crazy.

From what he can piece together from Applebee’s employees and random people, he left the Steak and Shake and walked to the Best Western where he got into some sort of altercation with someone and allegedly threw a rock through a hotel window. It was sometime after that altercation Space believes something horrible happened.

“It had to be after that,” said Space. “From what I hear I left the Best Western after that and no one saw me again that night. Someone must have seen me, because someone tried to kill me.”

On the morning of May 21, someone found Space in a ditch, barely breathing, his head covered in blood, and his clothes torn. He awoke from a coma in the hospital one week later with severe brain swelling, no memory of that night and no one available to tell him what happened.

“It’s kind of messed up that there’s no record of anything,” said Space. “I mean there’s no record of my ambulance ride or 911 call. There are no witnesses that saw anything happen to me and with all those businesses right there; there are no surveillance tapes of me from anytime that night. It just doesn’t add up. Nothing from that night makes sense. It’s crazy.”

Space often wonders if he was drugged that night, accidentally or on purpose.

“I mean I don’t know if I had any enemies or what,” said Space. “I have never acted like that before, ever, and if everyone, even my co-workers, saw me acting a fool and being crazy, then how come no one tried to help me? Or at least call me a cab instead of letting me wander around. That’s a big mystery to me. I just don’t get it unless someone wanted to hurt me.”

After months of rehabilitation where he learned to walk, write, and speak again, he started working on his album.

“It was hard at first,” said Space. “I was writing real slowly and it was really frustrating, but I got through it. The first track I recorded was “I Ain’t Dead Yet,” and that’s all about this. There’s a reason I am here, God isn’t done with me yet.”

Space believes his faith in God helped pull him through the ordeal.

“I am truly blessed,” said Space. “I mean, I should be dead, and God’s the only reason I’m not. I can’t affiliate with anyone that doesn’t believe in God now because I’ve seen his work in my life and I know he’s real. They didn’t think I would live and here I am, shooting ball, writing and recording. It’s unbelievable.”

His new Album, I am So Super, may seem a little deeper than his past recordings, said his Producer Shawshank.

“It’s not about what he can’t do now,” said Shawshank. “It’s about what he’s choosing to do and how he uses his words in his music. His outlook on life is different period, so his music will be different, but he’s still the humble, positive, good guy, he was before.”

Although he isn’t sure what the future holds, Space is grateful for every minute he has.

“I was stressing about a lot of things before, that I just don’t care about now,” said Space. “Now my life is just full of gratitude and blessings. Little things I used to overlook, like a blue sky now is just incredible. I’m so grateful to have this second chance and this album.”

“The fact that I’m alive,” laughed Space. “That’s why I am so super.”

The album I Am So Super drops November 12 and can be ordered on www.cdbaby.com/youngspacemann or by calling 336-340-2171.

Lil Wayne’s Entourage Accused Of Attacking Photographer

Lil Wayne's Entourage Accused Of Attacking Photographer

Lil Wayne’s crew reportedly attacked a photographer in Miami, Florida.

Lil Wayne’s entourage has been accused of attacking a photographer last week in Miami, Florida.

According to TMZ, the photographer filed a police report claiming that he was pushed to the ground in the rain by the crew and that they also trashed his bicycle.

It all began when the photographer spotted Weezy and co. skateboarding outside of a church in a zone prohibiting skateboarding. After taking a few flicks, the photog says that they packed up after it began to rain. He followed them to their car while taking pictures, but Wayne ordered his collective to take the man’s camera. Eight men surrounded him and intimidated him into deleting several pics.

One of Wayne’s associates then spat on him and another pushed him to the ground. The crew also beat up his bicycle with a skateboard. After escaping, the photographer went to the Miami Beach Police Station and filed the report.
